Charts (Data Search/Export)

Ever since Flash is no longer active (Firefox/Chrome) does anyone know how to run this Onepacs feature of the CHARTS. I use this for watching our volume trends and it's way easier to see a visual then digging around in an excel spreadsheet.

Hello, at the moment it is difficult to use that feature as you note due to the retirement of Flash. For the time being we would recommend just using data export and looking at the data that way.

For technically savvy people and/or groups who have support agreements with Adobe there are ways of using it but it would be much easier to just use data export and look at the data for the time being. The amount of effort required for the workarounds would be better spent just exporting the data and looking at it that way.

We intend to update this functionality to not require flash, but we do not have a timeline for that. A systemwide review we conducted revealed that very few users are using this feature at this time, so we do not have a timeline for this.

Additionally, there is a promising technology/browser plugin called "ruffle" (ruffle.rs) that is currently in development and allows users to run flash applets in emulation, without Flash. At the moment it seems to have a glitch in that the charts it generates on OnePacs are too zoomed in, so it is not quite ready for use with Charts, but the project is just getting started and is improving rapidly. From the looks of things I would expect their plugin will work properly with OnePacs charts when they get the kinks ironed out.

So overall I think the recommendations for Charts would be:

(a) Best solution for now is to use data export and graph yourself, sorry for the inconvenience due to Flash being retired
(b) The ruffle browser plugin seems to be improving rapidly and it likely would be able to restore the functionality lost when Flash was EOLed
(c) Longer term we will update to not require Flash, but as this is a rarely used feature we don't have a time estimate on that.
(d) It's also possible for technically savvy groups willing to spend time on the issue, and/or who have technical support contracts with Adobe, to apply workarounds and use the technology despite Flash EOL. Not recommended.

The method described in this web page also works apparently.

We can't recommend or support such third party workarounds, but providing the information for reference:

BTW the solution/workaround referenced in the above post of Feb 15, 2021, does appear to work, for users who are comfortable arranging that setup. That could be used for the time being.

It also does appear that the ruffle.rs browser extension will be able to support the normal behavior of this charting app when it is updated to support a technology called AVM2 (ActionScript 3). On their webpage they indicate "We do plan on supporting this soon", fwiw.

I have checked and with the latest update to the ruffles browser extension, charts appears to work again.

See screenshot.

This is in the Firefox browser with the ruffle.rs extension, nightly build 2021-05-25 installed.
